I Will Make No Decisions on My Own --by Rev. Mary Stoelting

I will make no decisions on my own. This is my constant lesson. Some days I am better at being willing to learn it than other days. Today I am determined to practice not making decisions on my own. Today I choose to remember that the individual self-identity knows only the past and knows nothing of the reality of my true Identity in God. It chooses to focus only on the world because that is all it knows. Thinking I am independent of God and my brothers has been a way of life that has not brought me happiness. My willingness to not repeat this pattern of making decisions from the separated-self identity is growing. The pain of feeling isolated and vulnerable, the striving, the lack of peace is getting less tolerable.

I am learning that I am either choosing with the ego (separated-self identity) or choosing with the Holy Spirit. And this is determined by what I want. I am learning to ask myself frequently, "Do I want to experience oneness or do I want to experience separation? What do I want to receive -- the experience of a world of separation or the experience of remembering God?"

The Course says, "Whose kingdom is the world for you today? What kind of day will you decide to have? (T-30.I.16.8-9) I am learning to be more vigilant in watching for what I am asking for by watching my thoughts. Have I reverted back to ego thinking, or am I willing not to decide based on the past? Am I willing to decide with the Holy Spirit? Am I willing to let the Holy Spirit be my constant Companion? Am I willing to let the Holy Spirit make all my decisions for me? Or do I think I already know?

Jesus tells me in the Course, "If you will accept the fact that I am with you, you are denying the world and accepting God. My will is His, and your decision to hear me is the decision to hear His Voice and abide in His Will." (T-8.IV.3:8-9)

My decision to hear His Voice… It seems so simple, doesn't it? Why would I not choose to hear His Voice? Do I use the excuse that I am too busy with what seems like more important things of this world? Am I too busy being entertained or with keeping up with all the world's events? Am I afraid of hearing His Voice?

If I'm really honest with myself, I have to admit that these reasons are pretty lame excuses for not giving the Holy Spirit more time. Underneath these excuses, I know that the Holy Spirit is my constant Companion. That means He is with me while I am driving the car, showering, and talking on the phone.

The Holy Spirit is my constant Companion, and that means right now… and always. Even if I forget He is with me, He is still there. I am trainable. I can be open to have my mind trained by the Holy Spirit on a continuous basis. I can increase my trust that He can help me with every thought that comes into my mind. He can lead me to increased peace, joy and happiness if I will just invite Him in to change my perception. "I can tell you what to do, but you must collaborate by believing that I know what you should do. Only then will your mind choose to follow me. Without this choice you could not be healed because you would have decided against healing and this rejection of my decision for you makes healing impossible." (T-8.IV.4-9)

I need to be willing to give up my excuses. There is no limitation on my connection with my constant Companion unless I set those limitations by not choosing to listen. My constant Companion will change my mind if I allow it. He is always there, patiently waiting for me to make room for Him. This outer world which seems so demanding is only demanding because at some level I am creating it that way. I can choose differently.

At our Monday night service I was reminded that ego thinking edges God out. I need to be more vigilant about observing when I am buying into ego thinking and edging God out.

The Course tells me that the world is meaningless. It is the opposite in every way of God's Universal Love and peace, where all is given to all… all has all. As I stick to the mind training program that I am receiving from my constant Companion, I will remember the truth of this more and more. The gifts of God are always there when I am willing to receive.

I am fighting hard now
Against the truth.
I feel myself spending
Hours of precious life
Dreaming of paths to control.
I keep finding myself
Agitated, alone, unfulfilled.

Even in this prayer,
I find myself unbelieving, but
I come to You… Anyway.

For in truth,
I know it is the only, the only everything.
And I ask for strength
So that I may come to You
With hope and peace
In my mind.

Knowledge trusted,
Knowledge understood.
For You and all help me.
My gratitude is already here.

Receiving Holy Spirit's Blessing --by Rev. Robert Stoelting

Whenever I take the time to pause and consciously connect with Holy Spirit, I feel blessed. There is a warm sense of Love that swells in my heart which brings with it a sense of joy and gratitude. It is similar to the feeling of being in love except it is not focused on an individual, but it is a generalized feeling. With this feeling, I see a happy world. The joy in my heart bubbles over and in my mind I share it with everyone. Fear and guilt seem like distant memories. It is easy for me to see the loving, innocent light in everyone I think about. Seeing that light simply strengthens the Love I feel.

There are no concerns or worries. I feel perfectly safe, for I see everyone as my friend, whom I embrace with Love. There is no judgment, for I see only my Self everywhere I look. It is very restful because in this safety, I can let down all my defenses. No longer do I dissipate energy with meaningless attempts to protect myself. I am safe in a sea of Love. There is nothing else.

This is the blessing I receive by joining with the Holy Spirit. Each time I do it, the blessing is stronger. The memory of my Self is clearer and I bring it with me in greater certainty through the day. The period of connecting with this memory may be brief, sometimes just an instant.

But it is not forgot when my thoughts turn again to the things of this world. The images of the world are a little less gripping. The memory of another way of seeing is a little less distant. Events that used to trigger fear, anger, sadness or guilt bring softer responses that do not last as long. I am less and less willing to wallow in those isolating responses because the memory of a better way is more clear and fresh. I remember that I need not entertain these emotions and hold them as my own. They are not mine. They are not real. I can let them go.

And so my step is lighter. My vision is more clear in the light that shines from within. I am less and less deceived by false interpretations of appearances. I move closer and closer to feeling God's blessing all through the day. As I feel it, I share it, because it is a blessing that cannot be contained. I move toward the state in which my joy is complete. This is the reward of daily time dedicated to strengthening communication with the Holy Spirit in my mind.

Summer Reflections on Living In The World While Waking Up while at the Gazebo in the Dell at Pathways of Light on July 5, 2002

I am so peaceful. All is right with the world. No need to fret or worry. No need to hustle or to do anything. I can just rest with this feeling and everything is fine. The world can be healed through this peace. I am healed through this peace. Farewell to the old patterns of lack, pain, dis-ease. Farewell to levels of fear that reach like tentacles to bind the reach of my mind. Let them be loosened and slide away in this peace.

Let Love express itself in wonder, one-der. I feel the joy that is here -- the joy that is in me. Everything one with God's Love. All things in this moment are recognized as Love, manifestations of Love, only Love. All is well. All is healed. All is truly perfect as it is. I am filled with love and gratitude. I am filled with the experience of God. At this moment I am as God created me.

Messages from Holy Spirit During
A Course in Miracles Study Program 916: Teacher of God

The following messages of encouragement and inspiration were received by the participants of the Pathways of Light ACIM program 916: Teacher of God, which occurred on campus in Kiel, Wisconsin, on September 14-15. We are including these messages here because they represent the comfort that is available to us all when we are willing to quiet our minds and receive the understanding of the Holy Spirit.

I feel like bandages that were wrapped securely around me are being gently removed by my consent, revealing a whole and healed Self. They were there by my own choice to hide my seeming woundedness, out of guilt and shame.

Freedom is mine! I can spread my wings and fly! In the darkness, God was in the works, urging me to come out into the light and see that my connection with Love was never damaged, hurt, severed or broken.

Oh, yes, I heard His Voice! I am Light emerging. I fly through the Sonship, bringing messages of Love and Light.

My brothers, come out of the darkness and into the Light. Come join me as we offer Freedom's Song to others to help in setting all free. •

Ask and listen. Ask and listen all through your day -- as you are doing your daily activities. It doesn't cost anything, only your willingness to step back and give Holy Spirit an opening. In peace you will remember to pause and listen. It is always there because I am What you are. It is the only natural activity. The ego is unnatural. It is not your true nature. This is how to keep your life simple and happy. •

Peace be to you, my friend. Remember this message, remember this day's events in how you heard it. Live it yourself and give it to others, all others, no matter who they are or where they may be. They are all Mine and I give them My peace through you.

Go peacefully… Live peacefully… Pray peacefully… Speak peacefully… Love peacefully… And in this you live in Me and I live in you -- One together in peace and Love forever. •

You are a being of Love and Light. You are loved, unconditionally, by Spirit and all who enter your life.

Accept it!

Denying it is of no use to you or to God.
To deny Who you really are is to deny Spirit.
Be who Spirit intended you to be.
You are radiant Love! •

Don't hold back from expressing the Love you are! Trust in Love. Be your Self.

As you be your Self, your Real Self (and I'll help you with that), you send a vote of confidence out to others to be their Real Self… And then, voila! You have Divine Playmates to share the most wonderful journey of growth and healing that really includes everyone.

This is the end of feeling alone!! •

Oh dear child, how beautiful you are. Oh dear child, how perfect you are. The way is clear. Trust Me, and follow. You can relax now. Practice deep relaxation, and allow your "doing" to come from this place, as directed by Me. Practice not knowing, and surrendering to this unknowing. Learn to rely on Me; ask Me; consult Me; Trust Me -- to know your highest good and bring you your highest good. •

There is a deeper, richer experience of guidance from Me that is waiting for you. It is here.

I can feel my willingness grow exponentially today. I can feel Spirit inside me, as intimate as anything I have ever felt. And the realization that it is my openness that has changed. •

Peace. Hold this.

What would it be like to be this aware, to be this conscious all the time with my eyes open? Be this… Practice this… Take this with you… Walk this… •

Walk in peace and all else follows.

Seek the softness and stillness within. You know the pain of rampaging thoughts and emotions. Why cling to that? There is no peace there. There is no rest.

Choose. That is My gift. Choice. When you are ready to fully choose peace, there it is… You will find what has always been there. And you will laugh that only now is where it is found -- not tomorrow, not yesterday -- NOW. •

The path is clearly marked for your journey. You carry Love and Peace to share with all. A teacher of God goes forth with acceptance, willingness and truth.

Fill your heart with Love. Precious moments are spent sharing Love and Peace. Laughter and joy are the seasonings provided at meals with friends you know. Life is Good. Love is Glory. •

Practice makes perfect. Forgetting is not a sin. As soon as you remember, practice again. With each practice, the habit becomes stronger. It becomes a resource that you call upon more and more as you go through your day. You will reach Heaven, the perfection you seek. It is your inheritance.

Leave the planning to Me. Listen. I will direct you in all your doing. You need only be willing to receive My guidance. Know that I will always lead you in the direction of peace and lasting happiness. I will direct your doing to serve the return to Love for everyone. That is w hat time is for. •

Clearing the vessel is a process. Remember Who walks with you as you do this. Your willingness is helpful. Allow the healing to occur, so My Light/your Light can radiate from you. The more you become willing to do your inner healing work, the quicker and easier this work will be. Then everything becomes lighter and clearer. Glorious joy and peace await you on the other side. A happy and peace-filled journey are the result. I am your life partner. •

Practice following My lead more consistently. In this will be your joy and your salvation from cares and woes. I lead you into peace at every moment. I lead you into Love in every way. I lead you to your experience of God. Follow Me and I will guide you truly and faithfully. You shall not want. You shall be One with Me, the All That Is, for you are My own. I claim you now. •

The power is now! It's right now! It's the beautiful people I'm with, it's the beautiful place I'm at, it's the lovely weather, it's the personal growth occurring right now. •
