Letting Our Light Shine in the World

A teacher of God is anyone who chooses to be one. ²His qualifications consist solely in this; somehow, somewhere he has made a deliberate choice in which he did not see his interests as apart from someone else’s. ³Once he has done that, his road is established and his direction is sure. ⁴A light has entered the darkness. ⁵It may be a single light, but that is enough. ⁶He has entered an agreement with God even if he does not yet believe in Him. ⁷He has become a bringer of salvation. ⁸He has become a teacher of God.

⁹Everyone will answer in the end, but the end can be a long, long way off. ¹⁰It is because of this that the plan of the teachers was established. ¹¹Their function is to save time. ¹²Each one begins as a single light, but with the Call at its center it is a light that cannot be limited. ¹³And each one saves a thousand years of time as the world judges it.

There is a course for every teacher of God. ²The form of the course varies greatly. ³So do the particular teaching aids involved. ⁴But the content of the course never changes. ⁵Its central theme is always, “God’s Son is guiltless, and in his innocence is his salvation.” ⁶It can be taught by actions or thoughts; in words or soundlessly; in any language or in no language; in any place or time or manner. ⁷It does not matter who the teacher was before he heard the Call. ⁸He has become a savior by his answering. ⁹He has seen someone else as himself. ¹⁰He has therefore found his own salvation and the salvation of the world. ¹¹In his rebirth is the world reborn. (A Course in Miracles, M-1.1;2:9-13;3)

We bring Light to the world when we recognize, for at least an instant, our oneness with a brother. This is a recognition of the reality that we are all one Self, united in Love. As we see that, in truth, our best interests are the same for everyone, our true Self is interested only in extending the oneness of God’s Love.

We make way for this recognition by forgiving our judgments that tell us that we are separate and alone. As we let the Holy Spirit teach us to see our brothers truly, the Light we are shines more brightly. We let the Light of Love flow freely from our mind to the unity of all minds. In this unity we are certain of our safety. We teach unity with our thoughts, our actions and our words.

Welcoming the Love That Unites Us

Without forgiveness I will still be blind.

Sin is the symbol of attack. ²Behold it anywhere, and I will suffer. ³For forgiveness is the only means whereby Christ’s vision comes to me. ⁴Let me accept what His sight shows me as the simple truth, and I am healed completely. ⁵Brother, come and let me look on you. ⁶Your loveliness reflects my own. ⁷Your sinlessness is mine. ⁸You stand forgiven, and I stand with you.

So would I look on everyone today. ²My brothers are Your Sons. ³Your Fatherhood created them, and gave them all to me as part of You, and my own Self as well. ⁴Today I honor You through them, and thus I hope this day to recognize my Self. Judgment is the ego’s tool to see sin. To see the innocence of the face of Christ in our brother, we need to let go of our judgments. Judgments blind us to the truth, for Love does not judge. Love sees only Itself, united with All That is.

Today we dedicate to taking the blindfold off. We offer our judgments to the Holy Spirit, Who will help us heal our fear-based thoughts. Where fear is released, Love is welcome. We recognize the Love in our one Self as we see the Love in our brothers.

Letting Go of Barriers to Love

Let me not be Your critic, Lord, today, and judge against You. ²Let me not attempt to interfere with Your creation, and distort it into sickly forms. ³Let me be willing to withdraw my wishes from its unity, and thus to let it be as You created it. ⁴For thus will I be able, too, to recognize my Self as You created me. ⁵In love was I created, and in love will I remain forever. ⁶What can frighten me, when I let all things be exactly as they are?

Let not our sight be blasphemous today, nor let our ears attend to lying tongues. ²Only reality is free of pain. ³Only reality is free of loss. ⁴Only reality is wholly safe. ⁵And it is only this we seek today. (A Course in Miracles, W-268.1–2. See also ACIM Lesson 268 Insights.)

The body cannot perceive anything real, because the body itself is an illusion. But beyond the illusions is the reality of Love. That means what we are and all things are is Love and nothing else.

Today we ask the Holy Spirit’s help to see all things exactly as they are; to see Love and nothing else. With His help, we will forgive the false images that hide the truth from our awareness. We will forgive the wish for specialness. As we let go of that mistake, the Love we are will fill our awareness and we will see the reality of Love everywhere. This is our calling.

The Certainty of Our Safety

⁵God is the strength in which I trust.

…try to slip past all concerns related to your own sense of inadequacy. ²It is obvious that any situation that causes you concern is associated with feelings of inadequacy, for otherwise you would believe that you could deal with the situation successfully. ³It is not by trusting yourself that you will gain confidence. ⁴But the strength of God in you is successful in all things.

The recognition of your own frailty is a necessary step in the correction of your errors, but it is hardly a sufficient one in giving you the confidence which you need, and to which you are entitled. ²You must also gain an awareness that confidence in your real strength is fully justified in every respect and in all circumstances.

…reach down into your mind to a place of real safety. ²You will recognize that you have reached it if you feel a sense of deep peace, however briefly. ³Let go all the trivial things that churn and bubble on the surface of your mind, and reach down and below them to the Kingdom of Heaven. ⁴There is a place in you where there is perfect peace. ⁵There is a place in you where nothing is impossible. ⁶There is a place in you where the strength of God abides.

In the dream, we feel a constant need to protect ourselves, to be safe from physical, emotional or mental harm. This world is based on the belief that loss is possible and separation is real. With this as a foundation, peace is impossible.

But there is a place in our mind of perfect peace. In this place is the strength of God. There is nothing real outside of this place. The Love of God is all that is real. His strength is invincible because Love never changes.

Today we open our minds to the thought of God within that is perfect peace and perfect happiness. Today we pause and let our mind be quiet. We let ourselves settle into this peace and strength within. We allow ourselves time to sink into the certainty that we are safe. We can bring this experience of safety into our daily experiences knowing that God is our strength.

Accepting Our Oneness in God’s Love

Christ’s is the vision I will use today.

Each day, each hour, every instant, I am choosing what I want to look upon, the sounds I want to hear, the witnesses to what I want to be the truth for me. ²Today I choose to look upon what Christ would have me see, to listen to God’s Voice, and seek the witnesses to what is true in God’s creation. ³In Christ’s sight, the world and God’s creation meet, and as they come together all perception disappears. ⁴His kindly sight redeems the world from death, for nothing that He looks on but must live, remembering the Father and the Son; Creator and creation unified.

Father, Christ’s vision is the way to You. ²What He beholds invites Your memory to be restored to me. ³And this I choose, to be what I would look upon today. (A Course in Miracles, W-271. See also ACIM Lesson 271 Insights.)

Christ sees with forgiving eyes. The ego sees only what it wants to see. Its top priority is not to see the oneness of Love. The recognition of Love’s oneness dismisses the ego and all its illusions of separation, conflict, competition, anger and guilt.

Today we ask the Holy Spirit to help us see the presence of Love in all things, beyond the forms. As recognition of Love becomes our top priority, we forgive the world for all we thought it was. Our brothers are recognized as our dearest friend, one with us in God’s Love. We join in the eternal extension of His Love.

Learning to See a Forgiven World

My sight goes forth to look upon Christ’s face.

I ask Your blessing on my sight today. ²It is the means which You have chosen to become the way to show me my mistakes, and look beyond them. ³It is given me to find a new perception through the Guide You gave to me, and through His lessons to surpass perception and return to truth. ⁴I ask for the illusion which transcends all those I made. ⁵Today I choose to see a world forgiven, in which everyone shows me the face of Christ, and teaches me that what I look upon belongs to me; that nothing is, except Your holy Son.

Today our sight is blessed indeed. ²We share one vision, as we look upon the face of Him Whose Self is ours. ³We are one because of Him Who is the Son of God; of Him Who is our own Identity. (A Course in Miracles, W-269. See also ACIM Lesson 269 Insights.)

To see the face of Christ in our brothers, we need to disregard the appearance of bodies and what they seem to do. The body is a mask the ego uses to hide the Son of God, our true Self, from our awareness. If we believe the body is real, we see ourselves as separate from other bodies. Most importantly, we believe we are separate from our Creator.

Believing we are separate from Love in the dream, we feel lacking Love. We search it in the world, but this Love cannot be found in a dream of forms. Love has no form. As we learn to let go of our investment in making bodies and separation real, forgiveness dismisses the false images. , the Son of God.

Today we call upon the Holy Spirit to help us forgive our perceptions of bodies, and what they say and do. With His help, we will see our brothers as they are, Love and nothing else. We will see the face of Christ.

We Would See Love and Nothing Else

Let me perceive no differences today.

Father, You have one Son. ²And it is he that I would look upon today. ³He is Your one creation. ⁴Why should I perceive a thousand forms in what remains as one? ⁵Why should I give this one a thousand names, when only one suffices? ⁶For Your Son must bear Your Name, for You created him. ⁷Let me not see him as a stranger to his Father, nor as stranger to myself. ⁸For he is part of me and I of him, and we are part of You Who are our Source, eternally united in Your Love; eternally the holy Son of God.

We who are one would recognize this day the truth about ourselves. ²We would come home, and rest in unity. ³For there is peace, and nowhere else can peace be sought and found. (A Course in Miracles, W-262. See also ACIM Lesson 262 Insights.)

Conflict is impossible within what is one and wholly uniform throughout. That is why we find peace in the oneness of the one Self we share with every brother and our Creator. That is our Home.

In the dream we see differences which inevitably conflict. But we can ask the Holy Spirit to help us see the oneness of Love that unites all form. Love is the only Reality. It is our Self.

Today we frequently remind ourselves, “We are Love and nothing else.” As we see or think of any brother, we remind ourselves that he is Love and nothing else. We offer any perception of anything other than Love in a brother to the Holy Spirit to receive His healing vision. Today we would see Love and nothing else.
